We thought we would like to share this information with our colleagues of photos taken today in the office, Thursday the 27th October. We now have 40 SunPipes installed in the offices as can be seen, and although we are nearly into November, we still do not need any electric lights on! The constant referrals we get from schools, hospitals and indeed residential properties is so consistent and really no wonder, when this is the sort of effect they must all be enjoying. We know we will be saving energy and our new Environmental Research Department will now be calculating exactly how much energy our SunPipes will be saving. There are forecasts that energy costs next year will go up from 25% to 60% so SunPipes will really come into their own bearing in mind they are making such a tremendous saving in energy cost.
Our Roof is Sprouting Mushrooms!
Our roof view is becoming quite an eye-opener. This unusual shot of the roof area over our offices shows the wide variety of various types of SunPipes, SunCatchers, Windcatchers, and Monovents that are constantly under test. The round dome SunPipes in the background were installed when we first moved in nearly six years ago, so we are able to monitor long term performance. Our new solar driven Windcatchers, for which we are currently filing a new Patent, can be seen in the foreground. Our new Wind Turbines are shortly due to be erected, so watch this space!
On Budget and On Time!
They say you should always "practice what you preach" so we are pleased to say that our office extension was completed on the 1 st October 2005 as planned, so we are busy now moving in our new office furniture.
This used to be our old 'stores' so what a transformation! The new offices are entirely lit by SunPipes as can be seen from the photo above and we have our new solar driven Windcatchers to provide all the necessary natural ventilation. Our Wind Turbine technology is due to be added although this month, Wycombe District Council have a 'Sustainable Environment Exhibition' being held at their new Environment Centre, which is being sponsored by Monodraught on the Rye in High Wycombe . It is a fascinating Exhibition showing possibly 20 environmental products and will run for 5 weeks having opened on 2nd October 2005 . Please go and visit.
Another Great Show at Excel
The Homebuilding and Renovation Show at London 's Excel proved a tremendous success. Our photo shows the Stand just after the Show has opened but by mid-day you could not move on the Stand and we reckoned that we had at least 50 visitors on the Stand at any one time! We had to keep our Wind Turbines 'under wraps' for this particular Show but a great deal of interest was shown in the SolarVent systems which seems to appeal to just about everyone! We ended up holding a total of 8 separate Exhibitions last month including Dublin 's Sustainable Show, Resource 05 at BRE , 100% Detail and Learning Environments at Nottingham University among others. Certainly our busiest show season ever!
Our Winning Team
Looking remarkably fresh at the end of the first day of the Exhibition the picture shows from right to left:- Rosie O'Neil, Sales Assistant, Simon Whitelocke our Area Sales Manager for the South of England, Jackie James our Sales Director, John Istead , Area Sales Manager for the Midlands and Tony Bond our Area Sales Manager for the South West.
Monodraught Sponsors CIBSE Conference
This two day Conference has some top Speakers from the Government, the professionals, and building owners, on this vital subject.
At the end of the Conference, a special Gala Dinner has been included, all within the Conference charge and Monodraught are sponsoring the Cocktail Reception. The Gala Dinner will be held on a river boat that will make its way down the Thames to the Thames Barrier and back up to hopefully Chelsea Bridge . Early reservations are recommended.
SunPipes are Cool at Ski Dubai
15N° 450mm diameter SunPipes have been installed in the Management Offices of the Mall of the Emirates, which is home to "Ski Dubai", the famous Dubai indoor ski slope. This is the largest Shopping Mall ever built outside the USA and was opened in November. The first part of the ski slope was opened to provide a play area for children with toboggan runs and snowball areas, etc. The main ski runs are due to be opened the first week in December. The ski dome will contain 6,000 tonnes of fresh snow and is maintained at a temperature of minus 2°C during the day and drops to minus 8°C at nighttime. The external temperature at this time of year in Dubai is around 30°C but in the middle of the summer can easily rise to 40°C. The ski slope will provide five separate ski areas, the longest of which is 400m, and these are served by quad chair lifts and button lifts. It snows every night and this is created by atomised water to create a cloud inside the building. This cloud is then "sprinkled" with miniscule hard ice particles, which allows snow crystals to form and fall out of the cloud.
