Monodraught's Christmas Party
at the Feast of the Pharaohs

Feast of the Pharaohs

Some 80 members of Monodraught’s staff and their partners celebrated this year’s Christmas Party at the dazzling Feast of the Pharaohs’ celebration amongst the pyramids, belly dancers, and fire eaters!  The Christmas Party was a round up to one of the most successful years ever for Monodraught but was a great opportunity for everyone to ‘let their hair down’ and just have a good time.  It was also a great opportunity for staff members to meet other members of staff that they are so rarely able to mingle with during work time and also, a great opportunity for wives and husbands, boyfriends and girlfriends, to also meet up with the Monodraught teams.  The only slight dampener on the evening was our Receptionist, Christina broke her arm on the dodgems, where another car caught her at a bad angle.  However, the good news was that Tony Cull ‘broke the bank’ by putting all his chips on the winning number at the Charity Casino.  For some, the party went on until about 4 o’clock in the morning but all got home safe and sound.Feast of the Pharaohs

An Apology

We are sorry that we have not been able to keep up our Latest News column on a regular basis over the last six months, due to the fact that we have been so busy with the launch of so many of our new products and innovations, to meet the demands and challenges of the exciting situation that we are now facing, for the application of our energy saving products to meet the wishes and aspirations of our customers throughout the world.  Nevertheless, we promise all our friends that we will do our very best to maintain our Latest News column for 2008, just as we have always done in the past.

Monodraught Launch its
Residential Sola-boost System

Residential Sola-boostWith the new generation of carbon neutral housing, Monodraught considers that as new houses are built to high insulation and draughtproof standards, there is a danger of overheating during summer months when the occupants will be out during the day and all windows and doors are closed due to security considerations.  The solar driven Sola-boost system provides PIV (Positive Input Ventilation) operating around the clock to maintain the house at its optimum environmental internal conditions.

The Residential Sola-boost is an extension of the proven Windcatcher ‘top down’ ventilation system, but the solar driven system provides additional ventilation on sunny days while maintaining zero energy running costs.

Monodraught Adds Three
Exciting Turrets to their
Residential Sola-boost Range

Launched in November this year at Interbuild, there has been tremendous interest in our Residential Sola-boost, with the very first Order being a large Holiday Lodge development in Jersey!  The interest in this new development has been quite remarkable but one of the comments that were repeatedly made to us was that Local Authorities are very keen to see traditional chimney stacks back on the roofs of houses these days and many builders have been faced with the on-cost of providing such a chimney stack but with no other benefit.  Our new range of Residential Sola-boosts with replica chimney stacks promises to be a tremendous winner by combining all the traditional appearances, so popular with Planning Officers, and yet, having the latest hi-tech application of solar powered natural ventilation as an alternative to the temptations of domestic air conditioning.

Classic Turret

The three new products are the Classic Turret, modelled on the wide range of Classic Turrets that have always been a feature of Monodraught Windcatcher systems but now available in this 500mm x 500mm size.

Chimney Stack

The Chimney Stack – modelled on a traditional red brick English cottage chimney stack and supplied as standard in a red/brown brick colour with a matching chimney pot.  The strong lines of the air intake louvres are in the same proportion as brick courses and although the air intake louvres are totally functional and an essential part of this natural ventilation system, they do not in any way detract from what is perceived as a traditional appearance.

Clock Tower

The Clock Tower – just one of a range of widely popular Turret systems from Monodraught, which can be personalised to suit any particular development and can be supplied complete with a wide range of finials or weather vanes.  The colouring can be made to suit the development with no particular limitations.

Solar Panel

The Solar Panel – the high efficiency polycrystalline solar panel is optimised for sunny weather, so more power is transmitted on sunny days.  With the original Residential Sola-boost, a solar panel was incorporated as part of the system but in this case, the solar panel is supplied mounted in its ABS frame arrangement and should be mounted on a south or south-west roof slope for maximum effect.

All Monodraught systems are supplied complete with ‘plug and play’ wiring, so can be installed in a very short period of time but now, not only do we have the technology, we also have the looks to go with it!

A New Arrival!

Kayleigh Doherty, DOB 26th November 2007We are delighted to say that our Sales Director, Jackie Doherty, gave birth to Kayleigh last Monday.  But that doesn’t slow her down, she is back at work already, still pulling in the Orders!

We would like to extend our very best wishes to Jackie and Kevin.

Nyssa, whose wedding we reported under our Latest News just over 12 months has also given birth to a bouncing baby boy, so is currently on maternity leave.  We look forward to welcoming Nyssa back in the New Year.

A leap Forward for
Natural Ventilation

Window Master

In July 2006, Monodraught announced that they had joined forces with WindowMaster, part of the VKR Group, to offer a more comprehensive solution to customers by integrating the technologies of Monodraught's roof mounted Windcatcher ventilation systems and WindowMaster's expertise in programmable window openings.

Now following a number of technical discussions, Monodraught and WindowMaster have agreed to an even greater co-operation to develop Monodraught's new comprehensive range of three new control strategies.

WindowMaster operate from Kettering in the UK, together with their sister company, Velux, but their Head Office is in Denmark, where they employ a staff of 120 and have extensive Research & Development facilities. As a result of this latest agreement, Monodraught will develop their new control technologies at the Danish Laboratories, taking advantage of WindowMaster's 10 years' development experience in its field of computerised control.

The long term aim of the two companies is to offer an all-embracing and comprehensive natural ventilation 'package' that will now not only be available to UK clients but will also be available to Projects throughout Europe.

The first major Project that has been completed as a result of this joint initiative is at the new Luton Innovation Centre, which is a redevelopment of the old Vauxhall Car Works, for the East of England Development Agency, where a total of 84N° Monodraught Windcatchers were installed together with 800N° WindowMaster window controllers. WindowMaster also carried out the complete control package design.

This new co-operation signals an exciting step forward for the development and implementation of a fully comprehensive Natural Ventilation strategy for all commercial buildings, which has the potential of being developed and being available on a worldwide basis.
