News from the UAE

cool-sun

Justin Carter from our Middle East office in Dubai informed us that one of his clients, Arab Beverages Establishment, who manufacture the Capri Sonne and more recently Cool Sun beverages, have recently mentioned the use of Sunpipes on their product packaging:

"We pipe the sun into our warehouses so that we
reduce the consumption of electricity."

Arab Beverages were established in Dubai 25 years ago and 25,000 (10 Packs), of Cool Sun are sold in the UAE alone every day!

Arab Beverages Est. also own and run the Organic Foods & Cafe brand in Dubai, which is the region's only 100 % organic produce store, where Sunpipes are also used in the Organic Products store at the same warehouse.

We have installed 44 N° 530mm dia Sunpipes into their 7-9m high factory and 4-5m high mezzanine floor warehouse in 2008 and we also installed in early 2009, two 6.6m long 530mm dia Sunpipes serving the Factory Managers Office and the Factory's Conference Room. All with quite stunning results!

The client is so pleased with the Sunpipes he is already planning to use them for his new staff accommodation building to be constructed in 2009/2010.

"THE BIG GREEN IDEA"

The Big green Idea

The Big Green Idea is run by volunteers from all over the UK and now have supporters from many other countries throughout the world. They are a dynamic new charity dedicated to showing people how sustainable living can be easy, healthy, inexpensive and fun.

We are proud to be sponsors of the 'The Big Green Idea' by having our banner placed on the back of their bus that they use to travel to the many locations in the UK where people can come and look and hear about the many environmental products available to them.

The Big Green Idea is unique among environmental charities in that it focuses very much on solutions, rather than the problems we face, and concentrates on how positive and empowering making simple changes in our lives can be. www.thebiggreenidea.org

Every Little Helps …. !

Tesco Store Cheetham Hill Every Little Helps!

Probably everyone who knows Monodraught is now aware of the striking Windcatcher systems we installed at Tesco Cheetham Hill.  This new Eco Store opened in January of this year and is already making outstanding claims for energy reduction of up to 60% per annum!  The new Store is bristling with new ideas and this is the prototype model for future Tesco Stores which are being constructed to achieve a dramatic reduction in the carbon footprint.

A total of 11 giant Windcatchers are used, each 4m high, and the staff are already saying that this is one of the “best Stores to work at” because they all love the fresh air and improved working conditions provided by the Monodraught Windcatchers.  Two further Stores are currently under construction using the same Monodraught Windcatchers and a further three are currently in the pipeline.  In this day and age, when everyone is talking about reducing energy and the inevitable credit crunch, it is heartening to see Tesco making such a stand for sustainability for the future.

ITN Filming of Monodraught

ITN FIlming at Tesco Cheetham Hill

We are delighted to say that we completed a very successful filming by courtesy of the ITN News team at three Projects in Manchester recently.  The completed film will be shown on a continuous loop with five other manufacturers participating at the NEMEX Show at the NEC, throughout the Show from 19th – 21st May.

Three sites were filmed, a School in Manchester, the new Tesco Eco Store at Cheetham Hill, and Manchester University.  The Tesco Store was probably the highlight of the filming exercise, since we were fortunate to have Bill Moss, the ‘Community Champion’, to give his opinion of the success of the Monodraught Windcatchers installed at the Store.

As can be seen from the photograph above, we were particularly delighted that Tesco themselves had made a major feature of the advantages created by the Monodraught Windcatcher ventilation turrets.  It was a fairly exhausting day, starting at 9 in the morning and not finishing until 5 at night, but please click on the link below to see the relatively short 4-minute film.  The long version of the film will be available in approximately four weeks’ time.
