Philosophy

Since our inception in the UK in 1974, we have always sought to invent, explore and develop innovative products with visually appealing designs, which achieve an efficient contribution to the optimum enhancing of our natural resources.

We have taken our own steps to reduce and minimise our direct impact on the use of energy, waste and water, and have also taken steps to make indirect impact on our environment with respect to procurement and influencing Clients’ views on low energy and sustainable products to improve the environment as a whole.

In making our own contribution to energy efficiency and providing products to reduce the carbon footprint of buildings, we have specialised in producing a wide range of wind driven and solar driven products. All products are designed to eliminate the need for electricity and based on the use of renewable power, ie. the wind and the sun.

We will continue to seek, innovate and produce further products based on this philosophy which we consider can have a beneficial environmental impact throughout the world.

Energy

We have our own solar driven SOLA-BOOST WINDCATCHER® natural ventilation systems and our SUNPIPE® natural daylight systems installed at our Head Office in High Wycombe.

The majority of electrical lighting in our Head Office has been eliminated by the use of our SUNPIPE systems and elsewhere low energy bulbs are used wherever possible.

All PC screens are TFT and are on energy saver mode.

All PCs, printers and copiers are turned off at night.

All lights are on PIR occupancy sensors.

Waste/Recycling

Waste paper is used on both sides before recycling.

Staff are actively encouraged to avoid unnecessary printing and photocopying.

Scanning of documents is encouraged as opposed to photocopying.

Recyclable waste (white paper, cardboard, other paper) is separated for recycling.

Recycled Files, folders and other stationery are always used until no longer serviceable.

We actively encourage email, conference call and internet/website communications.

Transport

We are currently investigating the usage of 100% Biodiesel for all our installation and delivery vans.

Procurement/Purchasing

Recycled stationery is procured wherever possible.

Major suppliers are assessed for their environmental policy.

Community

We have supported the inclusion of PV and Wind turbines at our Local Council Energy Exhibition in High Wycombe.

We hold a forum to represent all department views and provide staff feedback to reduce energy consumption and encourage recycling every 6 months.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) seminars and lectures are offered to Architects and Consultant Engineers.

We hold an employee consultation process every 6 months on a one to one basis.

We support local youth orientated Sports Clubs.

We strive to lead the field in the development of renewable energy systems through continually searching for opportunities to develop and promote the application of effective, natural and low energy products for the benefit of the environment – and to the ultimate buildings of the future.
