Job Title: Manufacturing/NPI Engineer

Department: R & D

Reporting to: Andrew Hamshere

 

Main Purpose of the Job

Working as part of a multidisciplinary R&D team this role acts as the main facilitator for New Product Introduction, with overall responsibility for product data management across a full cradle to grave life cycle.

 

Detailed Duties of the Job

— Design for manufacture, including the design and engineering of new products, selecting manufacturing methods,
     location, and materials.

— Creating and maintaining bills of materials, parts lists.

— Assessing manufacturing methods, assembly, production, installation, servicing and maintenance to minimise cost.

— Risk assessment and failure mode and effects analysis.

— Engineering analysis including stress/strain calculations, using FEA software.

— Putting in place procedures to manage the above.

— Testing and problem solving design features on development projects and on-going production.

— Documenting installation, servicing, and maintenance regimes

— Maintaining TCFs and DoC literature for products including identifying all relevant safety and test standards.

— Continuation engineering duties for substitute parts, suppliers and sub-contractors.

— Project management of assigned projects/work packages

 

Essential Qualification and Skills Required*

2:2 or above in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline to (BEng or equivalent qualification).

Experience working within a Production/NPI/QA engineering role at a SME manufacturing company
or a solid background/Education in the field.

Written and Verbal communication skills (English).

*Must be eligible to work in the UK without restriction

*Must hold a valid UK driving license or hold a license permitted in the UK

 

Desired Factors

Good AutoCAD skills with Solidworks.

Knowledge of business and production management systems MRP/ERP

Experiencing of dealing with maintaining relationships and product quality with sub-contract suppliers for bespoke assemblies.

Knowledge of CE marking requirements particularly in relation to the Machinery Directive.

Structured DFM training and Lean/ 5S/ Kaisen experience highly beneficial.

A willingness to add to skill set with programming, web languages, firmware, C+
