The Sandymouth Holiday Resort was recently re-opened following a refurbishment.  It features luxury lodges and many child-friendly activities and facilities.  It is situated very close to the mile-long Sandymouth beach.

Monodraught were specified to provide both natural ventilation and natural lighting systems to serve the restaurant and bar area.  The X-Airs and Sunpipe systems serve the new restaurant area and bring an impressive amount of natural light and fresh air into the building.

The combination of natural ventilation with our Sola-boost X-Air® Systems and natural light from our Sunpipe® Systems will ensure that the restaurant and bar area remains fresh and light throughout the day, providing economic and sustainability benefits including reducing carbon footprint and energy costs.  More importantly perhaps, they will improve the environment for staff and visitors.  They now benefit from improved indoor air quality (IAQ) and a sense of wellbeing from having more natural light delivered inside the building.

There are many benefits to installing a Monodraught natural ventilation system; by using wind pressure and the natural stack effect of thermal buoyancy, natural ventilation does not use any fossil fuelled energy but relies on harnessing wind power and the thermal rise of warm air to be used in a controlled and sophisticated way.

Monodraught Sunpipe systems are also cost effective – energy costs can be saved as the need for electric lighting during daytime hours is minimised by as much as 75%.

It’s gratifying to be part of this redevelopment and to know that our solutions can help contribute to the green ethos at Darwin Escapes.  As a company they continue to build sustainability into all of their sites, from putting covers on swimming pools to maintain temperature right through to providing bug hotels to maintain the local habitat.
