For the third year running, Monodraught have chosen to take part in The Rotary Club’s Santa’s Fun Run in Marlow.  We will be raising money for Scannappeal, The Compassionate Friends and Buckinghamshire Mind.

Team Monodraught look forward to competing in the thirteenth Marlow Santa’s Fun Run on the 3rd December.  The event is a key part of the local calendar with many friends and family turning out to support all those children and adults running, walking or scooting round the route.  It’s a great fun event which sells out every year, with everyone enjoying seeing or being part of 2,500 Santa’s running through the town or warming up afterwards with a comforting hot chocolate!

Last year the event raised over £35,000 for the Rotary Club’s nominated charities and this year the target is set at a healthy £40,000.

Scannapeal is a local charity dedicated to providing state of the art medical equipment.  2017 is a very special year for the charity as it celebrates its 30th Anniversary and raising over £12.5 million to purchase equipment for every major department in each of the county’s hospitals (Stoke Mandeville, Wycombe General, Amersham and community hospitals).

The Compassionate Friends provide support to parents after the death of a child (of whatever age from a baby to an adult).  They are unique in that all their trained volunteers have themselves lost a child and can therefore offer true empathy and understanding and can help those more recently bereaved to develop coping strategies and find hope.  They offer many different forms of support – local groups, online forums, a telephone helpline (open every day and always answered by a bereaved parent), and residential weekends.

For over 100 years, Buckinghamshire Mind has been a trusted charity working to support and represent people with mental health problems living across the county by providing high quality services.

If you would like to support the team with their fundraising, please donate and help cheer them along.  To find out more about our other charitable activities, please visit our CSR pages.
